What is Dementia Care?
Dementia homecare is a specialised form of support for individuals living with conditions that affect memory, thinking, and behaviour. Dementia care services focus on providing comfort, structure, and reassurance for those living with dementia, as well as their families.
We provide these services in the form of day homecare, overnight homecare, and couples’ homecare.
Knowing how to care for someone with dementia can be challenging, as we know that it can impact a service user’s daily life in many different ways. We also understand that no two experiences of dementia are the same.
As such, our dementia care services can be offered in conjunction with our other North Yorkshire and North West homecare services.
Our Dementia Care At Home Services
At Nuliving, our fully trained and qualified dementia caregivers provide personalised support to dementia patients in the comfort and familiarity of home. Our care services are bespoke to each service user’s routines, stage, and needs.
Personal Care and Daily Living
Our team can assist with essential tasks, including washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. We implement familiar and consistent routines wherever possible to reduce feelings of confusion and to promote independence.
Physical Health and Mobility Support
Our dementia caregivers can support your or a loved one’s mobility and physical health needs, whether this be advising on suitable home adaptations or providing assistance during safe transfers with aids.
Medication Management
We provide gentle medication prompts and safe handling of prescriptions, ensuring that medication is taken correctly and on time, regardless of how many prescriptions the service user requires.
Meal Preparation and Nutrition
Our caregivers are on hand to prepare balanced, nourishing meals that support you or your loved one’s dietary needs and preferences.
Emotional Support and Companionship
We’re always happy to offer calm, reassuring care to dementia patients to reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. We pride ourselves on building deep, genuine, trusting connections with our service users, encouraging participation in hobbies, family and friend time, and local activities.
End-of-Life Care
If required, we will provide reliable, empathetic, and reassuring end-of-life care to support both the service user and their family. We prioritise dignity, symptom management, pain relief, and emotional wellbeing above all during this time.
